October 2014 Books of the Month

The books of month for October are the librarian's choice!! Hehe! I promise they won't disapoint!! These books are amazing reads and you can even share one of them with your students and your very own children. These two books will definitely make you think. These books are about two girls who have significant personal struggles and are doing their best to navigate in a world that is often not kind. I hope you enjoy these books and "read it forward" and share these with other readers. The first book, Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper, was on the Bluebonnet Award list a few years back and is a PERFECT read-aloud for your students. The second book, Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern, is geared towards middle school readers and beyond. Happy reading!! :)

Sonntag Staff & Parent's FIRST Little Free Library!!!!!

Attention Sonntag Staff!!! The Sonntag Library staff is launching a new program exclusively for staff and parents. If you have never heard of the Little Free Libraries that are popping up all over the world, check out this amazing article. There could even be one in your neighborhood! Many of these libraries are registered and can be found on this map. 

Because the Sonntag Library staff firmly believes that it truly "takes a village to raise a life-long reader," we wanted you all to have the opportunity to connect with new reads where it's convenient: in your local school work room. Stop by during your planning! The rules are simple:

1.      If you take a book, please leave a book. 

2.      These books are for staff and & parent books only. These books are not intended for classroom use!

3.      It takes a village to raise a reader! Read every day!

This is an amazing, global program. We hope that this helps you get your hands on a good book. If we want our students and children to be readers we have to read ourselves. Reading can be a quick magazine article, newspaper article, cookbook, or whatever you want to read! Reading is reading!
