December 2013/January 2014 Book of the Month

"A deeply evocative story of ambition and betrayal, The Paris Wife captures the love affair between Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Europe, where they become swept up in the hard-drinking, fast-living, and free-loving life of Jazz Age Paris—hanging out with a volatile group that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. As Ernest struggles to find his literary voice and Hadley strives to hold on to her sense of self, they eventually find themselves facing the ultimate crisis of their marriage—a deception that will lead to the unraveling of everything they’ve fought so hard for." - Amazon.com

  1. I really enjoyed this book! I honestly had a little difficulty getting started but once I started reading the part about how difficult her life was as she lost family member after family member I was hooked. What a tough life and marriage! Even though I knew what was coming with Mr. Hemingway, I was still sad that he chose to end his life. I would recommend this book to those who love E. Hemingway's books or just a good historical fiction read!
